Yangon

Location: Yangon, Myanmar (21st Hostel)

Memories from Yangon:

Returning to Roly’s at midnight when I had no hostel booked or place to stay. Weirdly, it felt like returning home. I knew he’d make room for me, vacancy or not, and that we’d share beers while I told him about my travels through his country. Sure enough, we did 🙂

Meeting the Frenchies at Roly’s and traveling with them through Yangon.

Returning to the Shwedegon and exploring new nooks and crannies. Meeting a Burmese pilot there that spoke great English and having tea with him.

Walking everywhere with the Frenchies. Seeing the impressive reclining Buddha.

Sunset by myself at the docks, my last evening in Myanmar. I watched like a fly on the wall as the docks hummed with boats, school kids, and commuters, jumping on the quick 15 minute ferry to the other side of the Yangon River.

The delicious street food – all the tea lead salad I could want!

The colonial architecture, water-stained and beautifully aged.
